Is Pulse Preventer Needed on Draw-Tite # 5504 Activator IV Brake Controller on 2014 Toyota Tundra

Question:

Does this controler have an override for when you have your 4ways on to keep brakes from going on and off ? THANKS

There is not a provision in the controller that would prevent this from happening, but there is a pulse preventer, part # 5501 that can be installed inline on the brake stop lamp switch circuit to stop this from occurring if necessary.

This being said, on vehicles that use a separate bulb for turn signals and brake lamps (like your Tundra) a pulse preventer is not required, since the hazard flashers activate the turn signal bulbs, not the brake lamp bulbs. Because of this, there's no direct connection that would allow feedback into the brake circuit.

In other words, you don't need to worry about the # 5504 brake controller feeding back into the brake circuit and activating your trailer brakes when you're using the hazards. If you click the provided link, you can see a video showing a brake controller being installed on a 2013 Tundra.

You'll need the # 3040-P brake control wiring adapter to install the controller.
