Reese Weight Distribution Shank with 2 and 3-1/4 Inch Drop for Trunnion Bar System
Question:
I recently purchased the Reese Weight Distribution # RP66073 and need to order a shank that can accommodate both a ~2inch and ~3.25inch . I noticed that Shank # RP54998 has two different product specifications, depending where I look. If I view the item in the site search engine, before clicking it, it says it can do a maximum with a Trunnion of 3-3/8inch and after I click on the item, it says it can do a maximum with a Trunnion of 2. Everywhere else on the product page says it can do a 3-3/8inch , except under item specs. Which number is the correct maximum with a Trunnion style bar system and if this item wont work for me, would you recommend # RP63971?

Expert Reply:
I checked with Reese and the drop should be 2 inches from the top of the receiver opening to the top of the ball platform on the weight distribution head. Going with shank # RP63971 will be the better option.
