I purchased a weight distribution hitch kit, part number PS49901 10,000lb GTW and 550 TW a couple of years ago when I had a smaller trailer. This kit worked well for that trailer. Now I have purchased a larger trailer with 5500lb empty weight, 7500lb GTW and 500lb empty tongue weight. I was wondering if I could replace the existing spring bars rated at 550lbs with bars that are rated for 1,000lbs. I found replacement on your site, part number PS58441. Would these fit my hitch head? Thank you

Since a key component to choosing the correct bars for your weight distribution system is knowing the trailer's total tongue weight, I recommend determining this before deciding on replacement bars. The total tongue weight of the trailer is the tongue weight of the trailer when fully loaded and ready to tow plus the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. The ideal situation is to have the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
