Can a Load Range D Trailer Tire be Used in Place of a Load Range C

Question:

Hello! I am replacing the tires / wheels on my RV. I have 13inch wheels with Goodyear marathon st185/80R13 load range c tires. I cant find this exact combo on your site, but I am looking for a similar tire that is mounted on a aluminum wheel. I see a range D tire, but I currently have C. Is this compatible with what I have? I don't fully understand the difference between load range C and D. Thank you for your help!

The difference between load ranges is the plies, ply rating, and capacity. Going to a higher capacity or load range is fine so you can replace a load range C with a Load range D. Like you said, we have Loadstar ST185/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire - Load Range D # AM1ST79. These will work for you. Then for an aluminum wheel, if your existing wheels have a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern then the Aluminum Hi-Spec Series S5 Trailer Wheel - 13" x 5" Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 - Silver # AM22323HWT would be a great choice. These are sold separately so you will need to have them mounted at a local shop when they arrive.

I have linked a video review of the tire and wheel along with a help article on determining bolt pattern, and a link to our help article on trailer tires in general.
