2008 Volvo V70 Part # 118463 Wiring harness
Question:
My volvo dealer says that I need a trailer hitch computer module and new software to insure that the trailer harness will work correctly. Is this true? They want $150 for the module, $74 for the harness and $22 for the software plus the installation labor costs. I would much prefer your product if it wont harm my vehicle. Also the installation instructions for your part dont tell me where to run the wiring to trailer from inside the cargo compartment to the outside rear hitch receiver. Can you help?

The T-1 Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # 118463 has been thoroughly tested and will not harm your Volvo. You can install this harness yourself in around an hour, and save some major cash.
I would recommend storing the 4-pole connector and wire in the spare tire well when not being used. This will protect it from the elements as well as any cargo carried in the cargo area. When you need to use the connector, simply feed it our of the rear of the cargo area and close the lift gate on it. The gate itself has thick weatherstripping that will prevent damaging the wires in the harness (just make sure to avoid the latch area).
