How to Pick Out Weight Distribution System for a 23 foot Camper

Question:

Hello, I have a 23foot highbred camper approx. #4700 lbs. Is the pro series model 49568 adequate. Not sure exactly what the toungue wt is but I guess I would assume 15. Had been pulling it moderate distances w/out a stabilizer with very little issue with a Ram 1500.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

Typically tongue weight is between 10 and 15 percent of the total trailer weight when loaded so your tongue weight would be between 470 and 705 lbs. Since you think your tongue weight would be 15 percent the part # RP65509 would not be your best choice since it has a max tongue weight of 600 lbs. A better choice would be the Pro Series RB3 part # PS49582 as it has a max tongue weight of 750 lbs.
