Reducing Sway and Steering Problems on a 2014 Coachman 31DS on Ford E450 Chassis

Question:

Hello Etrailer tech support, I have a 2014 Coachman 31DS Leprechaun Class c built on a 2014 Ford E450 chassis. This unit has air bags in the rear from the factory. I am towing an 18 foot, 2015 Stealth 18 foot V-nose snowmobile trailer that weighs in at about 4000 lbs loaded. When towing in areas with heavy semi traffic, and or strong wind, the trailer moves around quite a bit, as does the coach. I am running the air bags at about 70 lbs, and that does help, but it is still fatiguing to drive for more than 4 hours. I am adding a Curt Manufacturing 17200 in the next few days, but what other items, and in what order should I add to get this to not get moved around by wind and semis?

Using friction sway control # 17200 will help with the trailer sway so everything else you can add will be on the RV. The single best upgrade that is going to help the most is to install a rear upgraded anti-sway bar, # RM-1139-147. There will be a noticeable difference between stock and using this tow bar.

To help with steering you can add a steering stabilizer, part # RM47MR.

If you would like even more stability you can add a front anti-sway bar. For the front use # RM-1139-176. I have included a link to our help article on stability control for heavy duty vehicles.
