Capabilities of Edge Insight CTS 2 # EP84130 on 1999 Ford F-350 Super Duty with 7.3L Powerstroke

Hello, I have an early 99 Ford F-350 Super Duty with the 7.3 Liter Powerstroke. I was wondering if this monitor would require a probe for the transmission temperature as this truck does not have one on the gauge cluster. Also, I was wondering how the accuracy of the monitor would compare to the accuracy of analog gauges as this is an old truck and does not have as many sensors as new trucks. Since I will be using this monitor primarily while towing I would like to know if it has audible alarms when temperatures get too high such as EGT and Transmission temperature. Thanks.

I spoke with my contact at Edge regarding the capabilities of the Edge Insight CTS 2, # EP84130, when used on your 1999 Ford F-350 Super Duty with 7.3L Powerstroke. The Insight CTS 2 reads the transmission temperature on the truck by pulling the information directly from the PCM (power-train control module) making the readings extremely accurate. This monitor also offers the option of setting alerts. These can be set at any value that the user would like and the device will beep and flash when the alert threshold is reached.
