Multiple Trailers Right Brake Lights and Turn Signals Not Working with 2003 Chevy Tahoe

Question:

I have a 2003 Tahoe AMD a older trailer. But even with other trailers my right side trailer brakes and turn single does not work. But I do have running light on my trailer. So I know the problem in the truck but what the best way to track down problem. I already know my problem lies behind the trailer light plug in.

First, the easiest thing to check are the fuses related to the tow package wiring on your 2003 Chevy Tahoe. Check the owner's manual to find the fuse locations to check them.

If the fuses are not the issue, then there is some testing you can do. Make sure that the vehicle side trailer connector is clean and free of corrosion at the pins and where the wires attach (if accessible).

Then you can test the connector using a circuit tester such as # PTW2993. You will activate the function that is not working by having someone sit in the vehicle and apply the brakes and use the affected turn signal while you test the connector at the back. If there is power like there is supposed to be at the connector, then the issue is on the trailer.

But since you mentioned this happens with other trailers, I suspect you will not have power at the associated pin while testing. You would have to then test the corresponding wire at various locations from the back of the vehicle to the front to find a break in the wiring as fix as needed. I have included a link to a help article on troubleshooting wiring for you.
