How to Convert a Round Bar Strait Line WD System to a Trunnion Bar
Question:
I have a Reese straight-line1200# roundbar WDS installed on my trailer. Im having ground clearance issues and understand that a trunnion system on my trailer will help this issue. My question is - if I get a Reese straight-line 1200# trunnion WDS, can I use some of the assembly already installed on the trailer to complete my changeover, or do I have to do a complete removal of the roundbar assembly and new installation of the trunnion system

The head and spring bars of your current system will need to be replaced. But the chain hangers and shank can be reused if you like. The shank is the portion of the system that slides into your hitch opening.
Your best option would be the Trunnion Reese System part # RP66022 as this kit comes without a shank and does not have the dual cam system either but would be totally compatible with your dual cam setup since it has the trunnion bars with curved ends.
Trying to piece the kit together would end up just costing you more so it would be much easier and practical to just get the new system.
