Measurements to install rails in my 1998 dodge ram 1500

The 5th wheel rail placement is going to depend on the installation kit you are using on your 1998 Dodge Ram. If using the Reese universal installation kit # RP30035 the measurement from the rear edge of the bed (not the tailgate) to the back edge of the rear rail is 32-7/16 inches on a long bed (28-7/16 on a short bed). You will then use the hitch to position the front rail.
