How to Add Electric Brakes to a Trailer Axle
Question:
I have a big question, I just bought a tandem axle trailer that someone has modified/homebuilt according to the title is a 1967 with vin of 489-U. It has square tube axles that measure 2in by 2 inch, with a five hole backing plate. I am looking for a elec brake and drum package for just one axle. My tire bolt pattern is 5x5.5 and Im having a hard time finding this any ideas or help.

In order to pick out the correct parts to install brakes on your trailer you will first need to determine what spindles you have on your axles. This is so we can pick out the correct hub/drums to fit as replacements.
You will need to remove the hubs of your trailer and pull out both bearings so that you can get the numbers stamped on both of them. Or you can use a digital or dial caliper to measure the spindles where the bearings and seal rides. With that info we will be able to recommend all the correct parts. But it all is based on what will fit the spindles so I can't recommend anything till I have more info.
I attached a help article for more info on how to add brakes to a trailer.
