Converting 1994 Ziemans Boat Trailer from Drum Brakes to Disc Brakes

Question:

I have a 28foot 1994 Ziemans boat trailer which states 2500 lb. capacity per axle. It also has 14inch tires with 5 bolts and 4.5 bolt pattern. It currently has the back axle with hydraulic drum brakes of which I am considering changing over to disk brakes. My question is: The only disk brakes I see on your site that may work on my trailer claim to have a 3500 lb. axle rating. Is that the maximum rating or minimum rating? Is this the system I am needing without going to the cost of upgrading to electric over hydraulic?

The 3500 lbs axle rating is the maximum weight capacity of the axle.

The Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR35D that you referenced is a great disc brake kit to use on your boat trailer. But you will first want to verify that this kit will fit the spindles of your trailer. You will need to pull the hubs and get the bearing numbers to do this. The inner bearing will need to be L68149 and the outer will need to be L44649. If so, then this kit would work great for you. This kit also is designed for bolt patterns that are 5 on 4-1/2 inches, which you stated your trailer has.

I have included a couple install videos of this disc brake kit for you to check out.
