Fifth Wheel Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 with Wiring Prep Package
Question:
I have a 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 Duramax, with Factory Brake controller, and Factory fifth wheel wiring prep kit.. The prep kit seems to be an extension harness tie wrapped to the undercarriage. It also has the bumper mounted 4/7 way connector What else do I need to get the truck ready so I can start shopping for a used trailer and know that I am set to go? Is there a T connector, or do I have to crawl under and reconnect if I swap from bumper to fifth wheel trailer? Thanks for the video on how to install the Curt Rails and brackets.

What you are going to want is the part # 20023. This is a 7-way that comes with 7 feet of harness length with blunt cut wires at then that you could use to attach to the fifth wheel prep wiring of your 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 Duramax.
I spoke to my contact about your vehicle, and he said that the wiring of the kit on your truck may not be long enough to reach where you would want to install the 7-way so that is why this kit is recommended.
With fifth wheel wiring like this both connectors will be active at the same time. The one in the truck bed and the one at the rear of the vehicle. You would not have to select one or the other at any time.
