I spoke with my contact at Diversi-Tech about the Adjustable Solid-Tow Aluminum Ball Mount, # DTSTBM6800. He stated that the unit has a binding nut to lock it in place. This creates a double redundancy to keep the unit from coming loose.

He also stated that this particular unit is not intended for use in harsher climates where a lot of salt is used on the roadways in the winter if you plan on leaving the mount attached to the vehicle all the time. It is also recommended that you grease the bolts annually to help prevent any problems caused by corrosion.
