Best Weight Distribution System Recommendations for Towing Trailer
Question:
I would like to know which weight distribution hitch is correct for me. Here are my specs: Tow vehicle - 2013 Toyota TacomaV6 with Tow package. Trailer - Kodiak 206ES with a dry hitch weight of 566, a average shipping weight of 4,278 and a cargo limit of 2,322 for a maximum of 6,600. Thank you.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
If your trailer maxed out is 6,600 lbs then the tongue weight would end up being between 660 and 990 lbs. For a system that would work well on the higher end of the at spectrum you would want the part # RP66084 as it has a tongue weight range of 600 to 1,200 lbs. For a lighter range system you would want the part # RP66083 that has a range of 400 to 800 lbs. These systems feature the only sway control on the market designed to fight sway before it starts so I highly recommend it.
