Trailer Brake Controller Recommendation for 2011 Ford F-150

Question:

My Ford dealer tells me that I have to come to them to have a trailer brake controller installed on my truck. Is there a trailer brake controller available that I can buy and install on my truck and bypass the Ford dealer?

You are not limited to just going to the dealer to install a brake controller in your 2011 Ford F-150.

Instead I would recommend you go with an aftermarket brake controller.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.

All you need to install this controller is the correct install harness, part # 22292. Check out the install video I attached that shows this controller being installed in a similar 2013 F-250 as yours.
