Do you get 2 mounts for 2 crossbars?WIll they mount on 1+a half inch square homemade cross bars?

Yes, you do get one j-style cradle per crossbar (so 2 total to hold 1 kayak) with SportRack kayak carrier # SR5511. This carrier will fit crossbars up to 3-1/2 inches. I have linked a video review of this carrier for you.
