Trailer Brake Controller Install and Recommendation for a 2011 Chevy Suburban
Question:
I have a 2011 Chevy Suburban and want to attach a trailer brake controller. Is there a port to plug into or do I need to find and splice into the wiring? Which product would you recommend?

The 2008 Suburban no longer has the quick tow package port underneath the dashboard. All the necessary wires are run (as long as the Suburban has the factory installed tow package) and are blunt cut under the dash. You will need to hardwire the Prodigy wires to these wires. With the introduction of the new body style trucks and SUVS in 2007 the new GM vehicles no longer have these wires run to a connector.
To see how a brake controller would install in your vehicle check out the help article and install video I attached.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.
