Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Wiring on a Trailer
Question:
I have a 2axle stock trailer that I am replacing the 7pin plug. The wiring from the axle brakes has 2wires. When I check both wires go directly to ground. I test a meter to the wire and ground from trailer to see which is ground but both show they are grounded. What may be the problem and how can this be remedied. The trailer is fully loaded with material and not easily jacked up to remove hub. Your help is much appreciated. Thank you.

The two wires coming from your brake assemblies on your hub are for the brake magnet. One wire is ground and one wire is for power from the brake controller. It doesn't matter which wire goes to what in this situation.
Take a look at the video at the 5:45 mark about how to wire up the trailer brakes I included for you too.
