Recommended Orientation/Installation for Redline 2-Piece Polypropylene Trailer Vent # HMAV2-AVT2

Question:

Purchased from you before. Im thinking of purchasing your HMAV2-AVT2 vents but have an installation question. My friend has them on a similar trailer to mine Stealth aluminum enclosed trailer and they leak, not around the outside edge but because they are mounted with the outside grille in a vertical position. Shouldnt they be mounted with the grille at the bottom so the water runs off of the solid body? The front one faces forward so the air force drives rain in, and it leaks down between the plywood wall and outer skin of trailer making the floor wet. The rear one leaks with wind swept rain front one does also as it is mounted vertical but facing back to rear. Thanks in advance.

The Redline 2-Piece Polypropylene Trailer Vent # HMAV2-AVT2 should be installed so that the openings on the flat bottom portion of the external section face down. In any other orientation there will be potential for rain to enter.

Installation also requires that you apply a sealer of some kind to the two parts' mounting flanges. You can use a silicone caulk or a urethane sealant like TempPro # 0160297. Please refer to the linked photo for illustration.

We also offer installation hardware, sheet metal screws # 31071 and wood screws # 30587.
