Weight Distribution Recommend for 2000 Ford Expedition & 2013 Dutchman 275BH

Question:

Tow Vehicle: 2000 Ford Expedtion Eddie Bauer 4x4 with factory tow package. Trailer: 2013 Dutchman 275BH Empty Weight 4818lbs GVWR 7800lbs Before I order, I want to make sure this WD hitch will work. The Expedition has a max towing capacity of 6800lbs so that will be my limiting weight factor. The Dutchman has an empty weight of 4818lbs so I will have to limit myself to no more than 1900lbs of cargo. My tongue weight should be between 680 and 1020 based on 10-15 of total weight. We dont plan on loading the trailer with a lot of stuff, however I am aware how stuff can quickly add up in weight. Thanks

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

If your tongue weight is basically going to be between 700 and 1,000 lbs the part # PS49583 should work well as it has a range of 750 to 1,000 lbs. But you will need to verify your loaded tongue weight.
