Can Portable Braking System Apply Brakes in Towed Vehicle with Ignition Switched Off

Question:

Trailhawk instructions require the key fob to be turned off and removed prior to towing 4X4 2 speed transmission. Will the RM9400 still be able to apply brake pressure without vehicle turned on?

Expert Reply:

The Roadmaster EvenBrake # RM-9400 is capable of applying enough pressure to the brake pedal that they'll work just fine with the vehicle switched off. Even though the power assist feature of the vehicle braking system won't be functional, the brakes will actuate if enough pressure is used on the pedal.
