Your 2008 Chevy Trailblazer will have the factory wiring to connect a brake controller under the dash, to the left of the steering wheel, held together with a white tag. The tag should list the functions for the wires.
It should be as follows:
GM red/black to brake controller black for 12 volt power
GM white to controller white for ground
GM light blue/white to controller red for input from brake switch
GM dark blue to controller blue for output to trailer brakes
GM orange not used
There may be some connections that you will need to make under the hood to make everything fully functional. I have included a link to the right to a help article that explains this.
You would not need to buy a GM harness to complete this install at this point.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.
