The Diversi-Tech Ball Mount # DTALBM6800 that you referenced is a great adjustable ball mount with plenty of capacity and rise/drop range. If you need a drop of around 8 inches this wouldn't be overkill. You should note that this ball mount will measure 12-7/8 inches from the top of the shank that inserts into the hitch to the furthest point down when this ball mount is in the furthest drop position it will go.
You would want to measure from the top of your hitch opening down 12-7/8 inches to see where the bottom of the ball mount would sit to determine ground clearance.
