How to Pick Out a Weight Distribution System for a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 Towing Travel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 w/tow package and just purchased a 27foot travel trailer w/550lb tongue weight. The dry weight is 5585lbs and gvwr is 6900. What is the proper weight distribution to use for this setup?

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

If your loaded tongue weight is around 550 like you referenced the Pro Series WD System part # PS49582 that you referenced would be a great option. The tongue weight range for this system is 550-750 lbs. I attached a review video for this product for you to check out as well.
