Hitch Mounted Bike Rack for a 2011 Honda Accord Crosstour
Question:
Hi.... I have a 2011 Honda Crosstour and would like a trunk mount to carry two bikes. Will I be able to open the trunk when the rack is installed? I saw the Thule model you recommended. i have also heard of Yakama working for my hatchback. my problem is nobody carries this brand in my city. Fort Wayne, IN Thank you in advance for your time.

When a trunk mounted bike rack is installed on a vehicle you cannot open the rear hatch or door. The weight of the rack and bikes would be too much for the hinges if the door swings to the side or if the hatch opens up the shocks would not be able to support the weight.
I have a solution for you though. You will want to use a hitch mounted bike rack. First you will need to start with a hitch. For that you would want the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7299.
The Swagman XTC2, part # S64670 is one of the most popular racks because it's so easy to use, and because the rack has an angled shank that would raise the bike rack up by three inches providing additional ground clearance. Because of that, this is the rack I'd recommend for you. You should have no problem opening the truck of your car with this rack installed.
