In order to install a fifth wheel hitch in your 1996 Ford F-250, you will need a set of base rails like part # RP30035. The first rail will sit 32-1/2 inches from the rear edge of the truck bed. You will then use the fifth wheel itself to position the second rail. I have attached a snap shot of the instructions as well as a video link to give you a basic understanding of installation.
