How to Get to the Tow Hook Mounting Points on a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee to Install a Trailer Hitch

Question:

2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Installing Part 87552 Tech Tip: Additional installation time required on models with OEM tow hooks I have this - what is the procedure to remove the bolt holding the tow hook brace? Appears to have been put in prior to bumper cover install.

Removing the tow hooks from your 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee extends the installation time by 70 minutes. This is because to complete installation, the hooks have to go, otherwise they would get in the way and you could not install the hitch.

The reason it takes so much longer is because you will have to remove the bumper fascia, plastic bumper support, and tow hooks and then reinstall everything but the hooks after you have installed the hitch. After you remove the fascia and plastic bumper support, you will see where the hooks are mounted and can remove them. The hooks cannot be reinstalled unless the hitch is removed.

I have included a link to the installation instructions for this hitch as well as an install video on a similar vehicle below.
