Programmer for 2005 Ford Ranger 4.0 Liter with Cold Air Intake and Aftermarket Exhaust
Question:
Good morning, I have read that different tuners offer different options for different vehicles. I own a 2005 Ford ranger fx4 4 litre engine. I have a body lift and 33inch tires. I have found the transmission shifts very sloppy. I am looking for a tuner that might save me a few mpg and adjust my shifts. I need a tuner that lets me change tire size as well. Other ad ons: cold air intake, cat back dual exhaust

Since your 2005 Ford Ranger 4.0 has cold air intake and cat back exhaust installed I recommend the Superchips Flashpaq, # SU1845, since it is compatible with those items. This programmer will allow you to adjust for different tire sizes and can firm up the shift points. It also has a mileage tune to help with fuel economy.
Also once the speedometer is calibrated for the different tire size your truck should shift better since automatic transmissions look at the current miles per hour to select the correct gear and shift point in conjunction with RPMs.
