What is the back space on the rims?

The backspacing for this Dexstar Trailer Wheel # AM20427 is 3 inches. I determined this by taking the wheel width (5 inches) adding 1 inch for both wheel lips (6) and then dividing that by 2 to give the backspacing of 3 inches.
This is what the formula would look like.
(5+1)/2=3
