A roof rack fit is based on the most stable and strongest locations on the roof. The Short-Roof Adapter for SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Racks, # SR1116, which you referenced, will provide some extra support and will allow you to more safely expand the bar spread to 23-3/4". The crossbars, however, will be limited to a spread of 23-3/4" because the adapter is not adjustable. However, the adapter's side rails and set of clamps do allow the rear crossbar to be moved rearward a bit.
