Wiring is not an exact science, so any colors I give you might not match up with the function. So, what you will have to do is use a circuit tester, like # PTW2993 if you need one, to test the wires for function when installing a wiring kit like Upgraded Circuit Protected Taillight Converter Hardwire Kit, # 119175KIT on your 2003 Land Rover Discovery.
This is an easy process, but you can save some time if you have someone to help. Start by gaining access to the taillight wiring on each side of the vehicle. Turn the left blinker on. Using the circuit tester, find the wire that has a signal in unison with the turn signal. Attach this wire to the yellow wire on the harness. Next, find the wire that carries a signal only when the brake pedal is pressed. Attach this wire to the red wire on the harness. Third, find the wire that carries a signal when the lights are on. Attach this wire to the brown wire on the harness.
Route the green wire to the right taillight. Turn on the right blinker and find the wire that has a signal in unison with the blinker. Attach this wire to the green wire on the harness. The white wire attaches to an existing grounding point or to the vehicle frame. Reassemble anything you may have taken apart and you are done.
The 4 pole can be stored in the trunk and pulled out when needed. You can close the hatch on the wires as long as they are not in the latching mechanism. Or you could mount the 4 pole at the rear of the vehicle using Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat, # 18144.
