Installing Stromberg Carlson # JET-3755 Powered Trailer Jack on 7200 lb Capacity Landscape Trailer

Question:

I have a landscape trailer with capacity of 7200#, I can haul a light car if needed. But with 2 fully loaded mowers plus equipment on the 16 ft trailer w/2 axles - it probably weighs a complete total of 5000# if that. So tongue weight is??? probably 500# How does the power cord hook up to ? a battery?

Helpful Expert Reply:

The tongue weight of a given trailer is generally 10-15 percent of its loaded weight. This means that if filled to absolute capacity, the worst case scenario tongue weight of your trailer would be just shy of 1100 lbs, which is well under the capacity of the # JET-3755.

The power cord would attach to the positive battery terminal of a trailer mounted battery. The powered jack will pick up its ground connection by being in direct contact with the trailer frame.
