Where Should Axle Be Measured To Determine Weight Capacity
Question:
Michael told of axle size determining load capacity, Is the axle diameter the diameter of the hub coming out of the tire rim? Or is it more difficult to determine?

Expert Reply:
The diameter of the axle would be the measurement of the axle itself. I recommend using a caliper to measure the axle between the spring seats under the trailer.
I have attached a photo of an axle for you. On the photo you can see a couple of the places noted where you can take a measurement.
