A roll pan bumper will not have any sort of step on it. A regular bumper will have that center "step" where the license plate sits. It sounds like you have a standard bumper so you would not have to worry about that at all. I have linked a help article that shows drawings of different bumper styles.

Some of the fancier trim models of the later Rams might have come with a roll pan bumper, such as a Rumble Bee or some version of the Sport.

I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK25518. It comes with a ball mount with a 3-1/2 inch rise or 5 inch drop. It also includes a 2-5/16 inch ball and a storage bag. If your truck does not already have a trailer connector you can add a 4-Way using # 118329.
