Are Trailer Clearance Lights with Clear Lenses DOT Approved
Question:
I am looking at some clearance lights with clear lenses and cant find any regulations on whether or not DOT regulations allow for clear lenses with red or amber lights or if they have to be colored lenses.

I spoke to my contact at Optronics and he informed me that the Side Marker Light part # MCL65CAB is DOT approved. He said the color of the lens has no real bearing on whether or not it would be DOT approved. It has more to do with the color of the light when it illuminates, the brightness and the angle it can be viewed.
