Best Way to Carry Extra Cargo with a Ford Expedition Towing a Travel Trailer

Question:

I usually tow my travel trailer weighing in total about 6,000 lbs. I want to put a cargo carrier in between my hitch and my trailer for extra storage. Is there a durable enough product for the weight i am carrying? Is it safe? I haul with a ford expedition SUV if that makes a difference. Thank you!

It can be possible to use a hitch mounted cargo carrier with a dual ball mount like part # D210, but you would need a lot of clearance above the tongue of the trailer that most travel trailers don't normally have.

A better option would be a roof rack mounted cargo box like the Thule Pulse L Rooftop Cargo Box # TH615. You would need a roof rack with a set of crossbars that run from side to side on your vehicle to be able to use this though. Check out the review video I attached for more info.

If you are in need of a roof rack check out the link I attached that will take you to page where you can enter your vehicle info and all of the fits we carry will be listed.
