Can I use the factory installed bake controller in 2014 RAM 1500 to control Dexter Electric Over Hydraulic Trailer Brake Actuator? Do I need to buy and install a different controller?

The Dexter electric over hydraulic actuator does not work all that well with any factory integrated brake controllers including the one in your 2014 Ram 1500.

We know that the Cargo Towing Solutions HydraStar # HBA16 will work with the 2013 Ram controller so in all likelihood it will also work with the 2014.

If you wanted to use the Dexter model you would have to switch to an aftermarket controller which would require having a dealership remove the code from the vehicle computer for the factory brake controller to avoid getting error messages.
