Does a Cushioned 5th Wheel Hitch or Cushioned Pin Box Give Better Ride Quality
Question:
Were looking at buying a Columbus 325RL 14K GVW. Cant decide which would be best - a cushioned Reese 5th wheel hitch with a Trail Aire roto flex pin box or a non-cushioned Reese hitch with a Trail Aire tri glide pin box?

Helpful Expert Reply:
If it were me I would go with a non-cushioned hitch and the upgraded pin box for the trailer. The reason for this is the amount of cushioned and chucking prevention on the pin box is greater than what would be on a cushioned hitch and would provide a superior ride.
For a 14,000 pound 5th wheel trailer I recommend the Reese hitch # RP30047. This is the old workhorse for Reese. Its been around a long time because it is a quality design and a reliable hitch.
For the proper replacement pin box I would need to know the manufacturer and model number of the pin box. This information should be on a sticker or plate on the pin box itself.
