Hitch-Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for Use with Two Electric Bikes in 2-Inch Hitch

Question:

This looks like a great solution to carrying 2 electric bikes. Without the batteries, each bike is very close to the 40 lb. total 80 limit. This rack will go into a 2inch hitch to an SUV so the bumper adapter will not be used. Any concerns?

Thule's EasyFold 2 Bike Platform Rack # TH903202 can handle two e-bikes up to 65-lbs apiece and bike tires up to 2-1/2-inches wide. This rack will fit both 1-1/4-inch and 2-inch hitches.

The EasyFold also happens to be a class-leading platform rack for any bikes. Its feature set is superior to almost any other premium quality carrier.

It is lightweight - only 45-lbs; it features a handy foot-operated tilt mechanism, built in wheels for easy maneuvering around the garage; it folds up small enough to store easily; it accepts all bike frame styles and bikes with or without fenders; it includes locks for both the rack itself and for your loaded bikes. And it has a lifetime warranty from Thule.

The generally heavier weight of electric bikes can be too much for some bike racks and so there are specialized carriers made just for this kind of application. It is always good to have some extra capacity in any product so a specialized electric bike carrier with higher weight capacity is the way to go. Since your bikes are close to the maximum capacity of the Swagman # S64663 I suggest you consider the Thule.
