Fit of Thule OutWay # TH45JV on 2002 VW Turbo Beetle w/ Spoiler

HI, I just purchased the Thule outway th45jv 2 Bike Trunk Rack for my 2014 VW jetta. But I was wondering if this will also fit my boyfriends 2002 VW Beetle Turbo sport with a spoiler. could you let me know? Thanks

Although the Thule OutWay is shown as a fit for the 2002 VW Beetle, I'm not certain of the fit on the Turbo model with the spoiler. I spoke with my Thule representative, who told me that they haven't tested the rack on a Beetle that's equipped with a spoiler. Therefore, they can't confirm or deny fit but my rep said that it was unlikely due to the design of the spoiler.

However, after looking at several photos of Beetles with spoilers, I sincerely doubt the OutWay would reach over the spoiler and make proper contact with the deck lid.
