Curt Trailer Hitch Availability for a 1995 Toyota 4Runner

Question:

Hello e-Trailer, I am thinking about getting a trailer hitch for my 1995 Toyota 4-Runner SR5, 3.0L, manual trans, manufactured 4/95 .... so it is a true 1995 and not the cross-over 95/96. I noticed that e-Trailer only carriers the Draw-Tite brand for this truck which requires drilling into the frame. There are a few questions I have: 1. Do you carry a Curt Hitch for this truck? I have looked at hitches for a 95 4-Runner and some companies do sell a bolt-up version no drilling required of a Curt hitch. This past Fall, I installed a Curt hitch one that I bought from you on our 2005 Pilot and it was fantastic and easy aside from the passenger side threaded holes that needed to be slowly rethreaded with lots of penetrating oil and patience. My Curt hitch on the Pilot looks better than the one my Father has on his 2005 and his was factory installed. 2. I would prefer NOT to have to drill into my frame and not rely on someone else to have to install this type of hitch Draw-Tite. 3. Do you have any pictures of how this Draw-Tite looks on a 1995 4-Runner? I have seen some terrible hitch installations on this particular vehicle all different brands including factory. I noticed that often the hitch extends out too much from the bumper and also rides too close to the chrome yes still a real chrome bumper. 4. You often provide Instruction Videos to your customers for how things are installed. Do you have one for this particular hitch. How about a PDF file of the instructions. I know these are a lot of questions, but my 1995 is in pristine condition bought it new 20 years ago and I would prefer to not have to drill into her body frame. Also want to keep the classic lines she has and not have a trailer hitch that looks like an afterthought. When you get a chance, let me know and thank you for being a great company with GREAT customer service. PS If I do install a Class III/IV 2inch hitch on the 4-Runner, would the Curt 24x60 folding hitch carrier Model # 18153 fit OK on the back of the truck. I bought this one last Fall for our Pilot and it is great.

I am glad to hear that our website has been helpful for you. I have some good news, we do carry the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch, # C13094, and it is confirmed to fit your 1995 Toyota 4Runner as long as it has 31.5 inch or smaller tires.

The Curt hitch does not require any drilling like the Draw-Tite Class III Hitch, # 75145, because it does not mount to the underside of the frame. Curt has determined that the mounting holes on the side of the frame are sufficient to support this hitch when towing.

I have attached the installation instructions for this hitch, but we do not have a photo or video of either hitch on a 1995 4Runner at this time. All of our photos and videos come from our local customers that want us to do the installation. Since we do not have a video yet, if you are anywhere near Wentzville, Missouri, we would be happy to install the trailer hitch for free if you would leave your truck with us for a day and let us shoot an installation video.

As far as the Curt Folding Carrier, # C18151, is concerned, this carrier will fit on your 4Runner without issue. This carrier has an extremely long shank that makes it compatible with almost every vehicle that does not have a rear mounted spare tire like the Jeep Wrangler.
