Trailer Hitch for 2015 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited Wagon for 1-1/4-Inch Yakima Hitch Bike Rack
Question:
2015 Subaru Outback 2.5i limited. I interested in a trailer hitch possibly Draw-Tite 75673 or Hidden Hitch 87568 or Curt 13206. I currently have a 1 1/4inch Yakima Holdup two bike rack. I realize I need to convert my bike rack to a 2inch Hitch. What do you recommend? I will most likely only use the hitch for my bike rack. Thanks for your help.

The Yakima HoldUp 2 Bike Rack for 1-1/4-Inch Hitches, part # Y02445, is best used directly into a compatible 1-1/4-inch trailer hitch. While there are adapters that allow different size hitches and racks to be used together, this practice is not ideal since ANY adapter reduces hitch capacity by half and also tends to allow for more random motion of the bike rack while you're underway.
Since you do not intend to tow, your bike carrying application will be best served by sticking with one of the 1-1/4-inch Class II hitches we offer for your Subaru. The three hitches you referenced are all 2-inch size Class III types that would require an adapter in order to use your bike rack. For the reasons state above I do not recommend this.
The link provided will show you three Class II hitch options for your Outback Wagon (as long as it is NOT the Sport edition). I recommend the Draw-Tite # 36493 as it is the lowest-priced option and because it does not require a stabilizing strap like the Curt hitch.
I have linked an installation video and article to help guide you through the process.
