Recommended Bike Carrier For 2015 Honda CR-V

Question:

I want to purchase a bike rack for my 2015 Honda CRV. I want one that goes behind the car not on the roof. If I purchase one through your company, where can I take it to have it installed? I live in Southern California.

There are a couple different style bike racks that may work for you. You stated you want a bike rack that goes behind your CR-V and not on the roof.

We offer trunk mount bike racks and the other style bike rack we offer would be a hitch-mounted bike rack.

The trunk mount bike rack I recommend is the Saris Bones 2 Bike Carrier, part # SA805BL. This is an easy bike rack to put on and take off the rear of your CR-V. It uses 6 straps to secure it to the back of the vehicle and has an arched design that fits over a spoiler. This bike rack is extremely light at only 10 lbs. I have attached a link to a product review video you can check out.

If you are looking for a hitch mounted bike rack and need a trailer hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 75742. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening which will accommodate many accessories like bike racks, cargo carriers, etc. The hitch can be installed by any qualified mechanic.

A nice platform-style bike carrier that is hitch-mounted I recommend is the Swagman XTC-2 2-Bike Platform Rack, part # S64670. This 2-bike carrier has adjustable wheel hoops that can work with wheels up to 2-1/2 inches wide. The sliding hooks on the center mast can be moved up and down to fit almost any bikes regardless of frame style This rack also has a 3 inch rise in the shank that gives additional ground clearance. I have attached a link to an installation video for this bike rack you might want to take a look at.

If you are planning on carrying bikes with alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes I recommend using an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and allows the bike to be carried more level in the carrier while providing additional ground clearance. I have attached a product review video for this adapter bar.
