I called my contact at Hopkins and asked about your 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. They told me that you can look on the door jamb of your Jeep for a sticker that should have the manufacture date. If your Jeep was built from January to mid June then it is the early year model and the correct harness is part # HM56206. If you find that it was built after mid-year then the right harness is part # HM56207. If using a supplemental brake system a brake light relay like part # RM-88400 is required.
Another way to tell is to look at the connector that attaches to the back of your tail lights. I have attached a photo of each of the harnesses connectors. You can see which one best matches the connectors on your Jeep to make sure you get the correct one.
There are 5 items needed when you flat-tow your Jeep. You will need base plates, a tow-bar, safety cables, wiring for the lighting, and now most states require a supplemental brake system.
If you need all of the other components to flat tow your Jeep I recommend the following:
Base Plates - part # 1427-1.
Tow Bar - part # RM-520.
Safety Cables - part # RM-643.
Supplemental Brake System - part # RM-9400. (brake light relay is included)
I have attached links to a couple of helpful articles about flat-towing you can check out.
