Installation Of DeeZee Tailgate Assist Custom Tailgate-Lowering System On 2014 Ram 1500

Question:

I have a tailgate assist kit DZ-43301 for Ram 1500 truck 2014 The first step in the instructions says to the nut tool in a hole by tailgate pivot point, driver side. My tailgate has no hole. Where do i drill the hole for the nut ?

I called my contact at DeeZee about your 2014 Ram 1500.

They told me they have never seen a truck that did not have the hole in the tailgate located near the pivot point on the driver's side. I recommend contacting the dealership to see if they can assist you in making sure you have the correct location should you want to drill the hole. Since there is supposed to be one in every tailgate, they may drill the hole for you so you can install the DeeZee Tailgate Assist, part # DZ43301.

I have attached a photo and step 2 of the instructions that show where the opening is located and what the nutsert looks like installed in the tailgate.
