Parts Needed to Tow 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe Behind Motorhome

Question:

I have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe that I would like to tow behind my 30foot Fleetwood Bounder Motor Home. Can you tell me what I need to set my Tahoe up for this? Thanks

According to my research, the 2004 Tahoe is capable of being flat towed. Please check your owner's manual for confirmation and procedures.

First your Tahoe will need base plates. I recommend Demco base plate kit, part # DM9518077.

A good tow bar is the Dominator tow bar, part # DM9511008. It includes safety cables and has a max capacity of 7,500 pounds. You will also need wiring to connect the lighting of your motorhome to the Tahoe tail light system and in most states, a supplemental braking system.

The easiest wiring solution for your Tahoe would be the Roadmaster Bulb and Socket Tail Light Wiring Kit, part # RM-155. A bulb and socket type system will keep the tow bar lighting completely independent of the Tahoe wiring and is very easy to install.

A supplemental braking system like the Blue Ox Patriot II, part # BRK2016 will allow the brakes on the Tahoe to work in tandem with the RV brakes for consistent, predictable and safe braking.

I will link you to some of our flat towing FAQ articles that you might find helpful.
