Why is 2 x 4 Lumber Included in Parts List for SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs # SSR-207-47

Question:

In reading the instructions prior to installation of the Rear SumoSprings, the tool list calls for a short length of 2x4 but the instructions do not refer to a use. Whats that all about? Installation seems straightforward but the wood is unexpected and unexplained. Thanks!

You ask a good question. Indeed, a "short length of 2 x 4" is listed in the installation instructions as one of the tools needed to install the SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs # SSR-207-47, yet this item is not referred to in any of the installation steps.

My technical contact at SumoSprings advised that the 2 x 4 is recommended to help get their springs fully seated in the cups that held the factory bump stops. The idea is to place one end on the top of the axle and the other against the bottom of the spring; the vehicle is then lowered on the jack until the wood fully inserts the spring into the cup.
