Question:
You have given the information on Dingy towing behind a motorhome for the 2012 GMC Terrain. Is it the same for a 2013 GMC Terrain? We have an all wheel drive car.

Yes, our flat towing recommendations are going to be the same for 2013 GMC Terrain as those for the 2012 model.
In order to flat tow your Terrain, you will need the 5 basic components. I recommend going with the following:
Tow Bar - RoadMaster Sterling All Terrain Tow Bar # RM-576
Base Plate Kit - Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit # 523163-1
Safety Cable Set - Included with Tow Bar # RM-576
Tow Bar Wiring - Also included with the Tow Bar
Supplemental Braking System - Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Proportional Braking System, # RM-9400, which activates the brakes on the vehicle being towed in proportion to the brakes on the tow vehicle.
In addition you will also need a lighting solution for your Terrain. I recommend the magnetic mount light kit, # RM-2120. With a kit like this you will not have to cut into the vehicle wiring.I attached that shows how to pick the correct lighting solution for you application.
According to the owner's manual, when flat towing, the vehicle should be run at the beginning of each day and at each RV fuel stop for about five minutes to ensure proper lubrication of
transmission components. In addition, you will need to remove fuse 32, the Discrete Logic Ignition
Switch fuse, from the instrument panel fuse block (store it in a safe location) to prevent the battery from draining while the vehicle is being towed.
I have attached a couple of articles for you as well.
